Join Us For "Women in Space" Livestream ft. Dr. Linda Godwin, NASA Trailblazer
Imagine being an astronaut with trailblazer Dr. Linda Godwin, as she shares her thrilling experiences with NASA! All Girl Scouts are invited to join us on July 16, 2024 for a virtual event, "Women in Space: A Trailblazing Astronaut's Insight featuring Guest Speaker Linda Godwin." Live viewing sessions will be held at Greenville University and Southwestern Illinois College – or stream from home!
Hear Dr. Godwin describe her science missions for the early Space Shuttle Program and logging over 915 hours in space. Learn about the studies and training it takes to become an astronaut, and envision her exciting experiences such as going on a spacewalk, operating the robotic arm of a space shuttle, and more! Girl Scouts will also fulfill activities towards earning our Women in STEM patch. PLUS - Girl Scouts are encouraged to submit a question for the chance for Dr. Godwin to answer during our livestream!
Dr. Godwin is part of AstraFemina, an organization that is Inspiring Today’s Girls to be Tomorrow’s STEM Stars! We share this vision, and pledge that Girl Scouts are helping build tomorrow’s leaders for our communities, our nation, and our world.
Girl Scouts will get area water parks all to themselves this summer! All girl and adult members who renew for a 2025 membership are invited! Please join us on July 27 at Aquatic Zoo in Mt. Vernon and/or August 8 at Collinsville Aqua Park.
Greenville University has entered into a formal partnership with Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois! The purpose is to guarantee Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois high school participants who meet admissions requirements acceptance into the University’s highest merit scholarship valued at $20,000 for the 2024-2025 academic year in combination with participation in the Panther Scholars program valued at $3,000 annually, for a total minimum scholarship of $23,000 annually.

Spending at least 120 minutes a week in nature is associated with improved mood, focus, and confidence! Enjoy the outdoors with us and participate in the national Girl Scouts Love the Outdoors Challenge.
This summer, join us for the great GSofSI Dash! You know the tv shows where people travel the world finding clues and solving challenges? We're bringing that idea to Southern Illinois and making it Girl Scout style! Gather your team, follow the map, solve clues, decipher puzzles, complete Girl Scout skills, and more! There are also volunteer opportunities for older troops or individuals.
We've partnered with Touch of Nature Outdoor Education to allow girls to experience the thrill of top rope climbing in the stunning surroundings of Giant City State Park.
