Operation Camp Torqua Trails
Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois love to explore the outdoors at Camp Torqua! Silver Award Girl Scouts Ava Taylor, Blakley Taylor, Sierra Trunnell and Sydney Dwiggins from Troop 1503 decided to make it easier for all of their fellow Girl Scouts to explore the camp property.
"Our troop camped at Torqua in 2021. We went for a hike and didnt know where we were going. The map that was available was not easy to follow. That's when we decided it needed a better map and signs. We agreed it would be a great Silver Award Project."
The group of Girl Scouts put their heads together and created an updated Camp Torqua Map that can be found posted in Lakota Cove and is also available for download here. Then the team rolled up their sleeves and got to work making and installing Girl Scout themed trail markers.
