Important Digital Cookie News.
With cookie season just a couple weeks away, we hope you’re as excited as we are to get started! As we’re making final preparations, we have some news to share with all of you based on information we received this week from Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) and Little Brownie Bakers (LBB). While this news affects the cookie program, we believe our council’s program will only feel a slight impact.
Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois (GSofSI) has been notified that LBB is experiencing supply chain and workforce disruptions that will impact production and delivery of shipped cookies (cookies ordered by customers via Digital Cookie to have shipped directly to their homes). GSUSA and LBB have taken the necessary steps to minimize the impact for councils.
For customers ordering cookies via Digital Cookie, the shipped option will not be available until February 27. The Digital Cookie platform will still open in December. Customers will have the option to select girl delivery, or they can choose to have their cookies donated through the Hometown Heroes (Gift of Caring) option. For customers who want to purchase via Digital Cookie and have the cookies shipped to their homes, this option will be available starting February 27.
Here are some key points to keep in mind regarding this pivot:
- The shipped option for customers will not be available in Digital Cookie until February 27. This is for all cookie flavors.
- Digital Cookie shipped orders are the ONLY cookies being impacted. Digital Cookie orders for girl delivery/donation, in person sales, booth sales, and Hometown Heroes (Gift of Caring) will NOT be impacted.
- When customers access Digital Cookie prior to February 27, they will see a message that shipped orders are not available until February 27.
- LBB has informed us there will be no further impacts on product.
- GSofSI will still receive cookies for in person sales and girl delivery on time and in the quantities ordered.
- GSofSI’s cookie program will end on March 5, 2023 as originally planned.
- Since Raspberry Rally is only available via the shipped option in Digital Cookie (and in limited quantities), customers will only have access to order this cookie from February 27 through March 5 (or while supplies last).
While we feel this will have minimal impact on GSofSI’s cookie program, we understand girls may have to shift their sales focus somewhat. In order to address this, GSofSI is rolling out an exciting new opportunities focused around Digital Cookie that we believe will help girls crush their goals!
