Aria Brown received the Charles H. Lawson III Award at the NAACP East St. Louis Branch Freedom Fund Banquet last Saturday! The selection criteria includes community involvement, church involvement, scholastic achievement, membership and extra curricular activities. Aria is a senior at East St. Louis Senior High School and Running Start student at Southwestern Illinois College.
Aria Brown, Gold Award Girl Scout
Aria created a resource guide and community fair for residents of East St. Louis, Illinois. For her efforts, she earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, which is the highest individual honor a Girl Scout can receive. The Gold Award is earned by girls in grades 9–12 who demonstrate extraordinary leadership in developing sustainable solutions to local, national and global challenges.
She is also a Trifecta Girl Scout for earning the Girl Scout Silver Award and Girl Scout Bronze Award in her younger years.
