GSofSI displayed excellent performance at the FIRST Tech Challenge qualifying tournament on Saturday, Feb. 3.
P3 (Polytechnic Puzzle Pieces) advanced to the State Tournament in the robotics league. They will compete next on March 1-2 at Elgin Community College in Elgin, IL. P3 also won the Connect Award for making the best connections within their community. In addition, they were second runner up for the Motivate Award for "sparking others to embrace the culture of FIRST."
Gear Girls won the Design Award, which recognizes their exceptional robot design. They scored second runner up for the Connect Award, as well.
Plus, George Mitchom, who volunteers with both teams, was named Outstanding Volunteer of the Year!
In FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), students in grades 7-12 learn to think like engineers. Teams design, build, and code robots to compete in an alliance format against other teams Thank you to Bayer Fund, a philanthropic arm of Bayer for helping support our Girl Scout Robotics program.
