Danielle Cary has been honored as the Leader of Tomorrow by C3, the Collinsville Community Awards. The Leader of Tomorrow Award "honors those youth who are involved in the community of Collinsville in constructive and positive ways, that have impacted the lives of residents and inspired others to make a difference."
Danielle has been a Girl Scout since age 5, and is a Trifecta Girl Scout who has earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, Girl Scout Silver Award, and Girl Scout Bronze Award. To earn the prestigious Girl Scout Gold Award - the highest award in Girl Scouting - she devoted more than 400 hours to providing new resources at Anderson Pediatric Therapy Center.
Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois CEO Loretta Graham contributed to the video shown during the C3 Award Ceremony, which was held December 4 at the Gateway Convention Center.
"Non-achievers let things happen. Achievers MAKE things happen and Danielle is definitely an achiever," said Graham.
Along with being an award-winning Girl Scout, Cary has also earned the Presidential Gold Volunteer Service Medal and the Congressional Award Gold Medal for her volunteer service. In addition, she is the historian for Student Council, President of the National Honor Society, and captain of both the track and cross country teams at Collinsville High School. She has a 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and is skilled at playing the ukulele and scuba diving as well.
When she received the Girl Scout Gold Award, Danielle said, "I realized that I can be a great role model and do anything I set my mind to."
